5 Reasons You Should Buy The Yeti Cycles MTe! (Yeti MTe Review)

E-bikes are getting lighter every year and if 2025 has taught us one thing, it's that this will be the year of the superlight e-bike category. For me personally, this is the category of e-bikes I most enjoy. The lightweight nature of superlight e-bikes gives you a very natural feel on downhills while keeping you honest up, something that helps me still achieve my favorite part about cycling, the work out! 

The Yeti MTe is Yeti Cycles latest e-bike launch and a bike that quickly became one of my personal favorites. Coming in at just over 38lbs, this enduro SL e-bike features their Sixfinity suspension design and a new TQ HPR 60 motor to help deliver 350 watts of power via either a 290 or 580 wh battery. The 290 wh battery shaves 4 lbs off the bike weight achieving the 38 lbs weight but you do lose 100 watts of power. 

So why is the Yeti MTe my favorite e-bike I have tested so far? Here are five reasons:

1. Suspension Design: The new Sixfinity suspension platform Yeti has gone with over their classic Switch Infinity is pretty insane feel wise out on the trails. It has a very sophisticated feeling, almost like an even higher performance version of DW-Link. Traction is awesome and as is the control through its travel. Trail chatter is where you really notice the magic, with the bike soaking it all up but still retaining a playful nature. The MTe also features a progressiveness chip to change the bike progression in its travel if you want to fine tune it further.

2. Geo is Perfect: The geo of the Yeti MTe is absolutely perfect for my style of riding. I love steep tech downhill, and the new Yeti MTe features a somewhat higher stack height over what Yeti is traditionally known for. This gives you so much control over the front end of the bike while retaining that confidence for steeper lines. Match that with the bike's slightly longer rear chainstays and you get an insane amount of stability at speeds. The MTe really does well on a wide variety of trail cases, and I am hoping we see this geo bleed over into the SB 140. 

3. The Motor is Natural: The new TQ HPR 60 motor has a very natural feel to it. New for this year and launching with the Yeti MTe, the HPR 60 has a very quiet actuation to it and in the low settings kicks in very subtly. This allows you to still put the work in and enjoy the climb while getting a slight assist. The natural feeling is very noticeable in tech climbs where the bike doesn't have a kick to it under quick load, instead working with you to help clean the climb. Putting the bike in its boost mode gives you quite a bit more power but even there is no awkward kick. Another cool feature for me was the built-in display screen letting me know how much power I was putting in myself in addition to the total power the bike was assisting with. This was another “keep you honest” feature I enjoyed. 

4. It Looks Amazing: Not much to say on this one, if you look at the Yeti MTe you know what I mean here. It looks amazing from all angles, and there's nothing quite like Yeti Turqoise. Best looking e-bike yet? Strong possibility! 

5. So Many Options: Yeti really is letting you have it your way with the Yeti MTe. More or less progressive travel wise, mullet or full 29, big or small battery. With so many different ways to run the Yeti MTe, this is an amazing option for the rider that may want to have 2 different batteries for two different ride scenarios (you don’t have to drop the motor to swap batteries). Keep the small one in for quick laps during the week where you want just a bit more help or throw in the big battery when you want to crank out laps on the weekend. The choice is yours and Yeti is letting you make it! 

Long story short, the Yeti MTe is hands down one of my favorite e-bikes I have tested yet. It’s the perfect blend of enduro capable while staying light and responsive. The Yeti MTe is sure to put a big smile on your face, great job Yeti Cycles!
